In view of these circumstances, and pursuant to the principles of good faith in the performance of obligations under Article 1159 and Article 1315 of the Civil Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 386), and invoking the spirit of mutual accommodation that governs the parties’ contractual relationship, the Lessee respectfully requests an extension of the period within which to pay the rent corresponding to the period from ________ to ________ (the “Subject Period”).
The rent for the Subject Period, in the amount of ________ (Philippine Pesos), falls due on ________. The Lessee respectfully requests that the full amount of the said rent be paid on or before ________, and that, pursuant to the parties’ agreement and consistent with Articles 1226, 1229 and 2209 of the Civil Code of the Philippines, no penalties, interest, surcharges, or other consequences of default under the Lease Contract be imposed in respect of the extension herein requested.
