Dear Sir/Madam,

§1. Introduction

1.1. I, ________, write in my capacity as a data subject within the meaning of the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "Act"), to formally exercise my right to request the erasure of my personal data held and processed by you as a data controller.

1.2. This request is made pursuant to Section 34 of the Act, the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (where applicable), and the General Application and Implementation Directive issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

§2. Particulars of the Personal Data to be Erased

2.1. I hereby request the immediate and complete erasure of the following categories of my personal data from your records, registers, systems, databases, back-ups and any other medium on which they are stored:

________

§3. Background and Basis of Request

3.1. I subscribed to the following service provided by you: ________, in connection with which my personal data was collected and processed.

3.2. I am hereby cancelling my subscription and discontinuing the said service with effect from ________. Consequently, the purpose for which my personal data was collected and processed no longer subsists.

3.4. To the extent that any processing of my personal data has been based on my consent, I hereby formally and unequivocally withdraw such consent with effect from the date of this letter.

3.5. Given the cancellation of my subscription and the discontinuation of the service, the continued processing, storage and retention of my personal data is no longer necessary, justified or lawful.

§4. Request

4.1. I therefore request that you:

(a) erase, in full, all personal data relating to me from all your systems, records, registers, databases and back-up media;

(b) cease all further processing of my personal data save where the law expressly requires its retention;

(c) where my personal data has been transferred to or shared with any third party, data processor or sub-processor, communicate this erasure request to such party and take all reasonable steps to ensure corresponding erasure; and

(d) confirm in writing, within the statutory timeframe, that the requested erasure has been carried out.

§5. Timeframe and Response

5.1. In accordance with the Act, I expect you to act on this request without undue delay and, in any event, within the period prescribed by the Act and applicable regulatory guidance from the date of receipt of this letter.

5.2. Please address your written confirmation and any correspondence on this matter to me at the contact details provided above.

§6. Reservation of Rights

6.1. Should you fail to comply with this request within the prescribed period, or otherwise fail to discharge your obligations under the Act, I reserve the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission and to pursue any other remedies available to me under Nigerian law.

6.2. Nothing in this letter shall be construed as a waiver of any of my rights as a data subject under the Act or any other applicable law.

Please accept my thanks in advance for your cooperation. I look forward to your written confirmation.

Yours faithfully,
