Dear Sir/Madam,

RE: AGREEMENT TO EXTEND TIME FOR PAYMENT OF RENT IN RESPECT OF THE PREMISES SITUATE AT ________

§1.  Background

1. This letter is written with reference to the Tenancy Agreement dated ________ made between the undersigned ("the Landlord") and yourself ("the Tenant") in respect of the premises situate at and known as ________ ("the Demised Premises").
2. Under the said Tenancy Agreement, you are required to pay rent for the period ________, being the sum of ₦________ (________) ("the Outstanding Rent"), which sum became due and payable on ________.
3. I acknowledge your written request dated ________ and note the change in your circumstances which has rendered you unable to discharge the Outstanding Rent on the due date.

§2.  Grant of Extension and Instalment Arrangement

1. In consideration of the matters set out above, and at your request, I hereby agree to extend the time for payment of the Outstanding Rent and to accept payment thereof by instalments upon the terms set out below.
2. You shall pay the Outstanding Rent by equal weekly instalments of ₦________ (________) over a period of ________ consecutive weeks, until the whole of the Outstanding Rent has been fully paid.
3. The first instalment shall be paid on ________ and each subsequent instalment shall fall due on the same day of each succeeding week thereafter.
4. All instalments shall be paid into the following account or by such other means as I may direct in writing: Bank: ________; Account Name: ________; Account Number: ________.

§3.  No Waiver of Rights

1. 1. In the event that you fail to pay any instalment on its due date, the entire outstanding balance of the Outstanding Rent shall thereupon become immediately due and payable in full without the need for further demand.

Upon such default, I shall be at liberty to pursue any and all lawful remedies available to me, including the issuance of statutory notices and the commencement of recovery of premises proceedings in accordance with the applicable Recovery of Premises Law or Tenancy Law in force in ________, and to recover the arrears of rent together with mesne profits and the costs of recovery.
