Dear Sir/Madam,

RE: REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF TIME FOR PAYMENT OF RENT IN RESPECT OF THE PREMISES AT ________

§1. Introduction. I am the tenant in lawful occupation of the demised premises situate and known as ________ (hereinafter referred to as “the Premises”), held by virtue of a tenancy agreement dated ________ made between yourself as Landlord and myself as Tenant (hereinafter referred to as “the Tenancy Agreement”).

§2. Purpose of this Letter. I write to respectfully request an extension of time within which to pay the rent presently due under the Tenancy Agreement, as I am regrettably unable to pay same as and when due owing to the following reason(s):

§3. Particulars of the Rent. Pursuant to the terms of the Tenancy Agreement dated ________, the annual rent of ________ became due and payable on ________. I hereby request your kind indulgence to permit me to pay the said rent on or before ________.

§4. Request for Waiver of Penalty. I am aware that the Tenancy Agreement contains a provision imposing a penalty and/or interest in respect of any late payment of rent. I would be most grateful if, in the peculiar circumstances of this case, you would graciously consider waiving the said penalty and/or interest.
