RE: EXTENSION OF PROBATIONARY PERIOD
This letter is issued pursuant to the terms and conditions of your employment as set out in your letter of employment dated ________ and the staff handbook/policies of ________ (urther follows our discussion during our meeting held on ________.
§ 1. Background
1.1. You were engaged in the role of ________ with effect from ________.
1.2. As a condition of your employment, you were required to complete a probationary period of ________, which was scheduled to conclude on ________.
§ 2. Outcome of Assessment

2.2. In view of the foregoing, and in exercise of the Company's right under your contract of employment, your probationary period is hereby extended by a further period of ________, commencing on ________ and expiring on ________ (the "Extended Probationary Period").
§ 3. Status During the Extended Probationary Period
3.1. Your employment shall not be confirmed until the satisfactory completion of the Extended Probationary Period.
3.2. All terms and conditions of your employment, including your remuneration of ________ and your obligations under the Company's policies, shall continue to apply during the Extended Probationary Period.
3.3. During the Extended Probationary Period, your employment may be terminated by either party giving ________ notice in writing, or payment in lieu thereof, in accordance with your contract of employment and applicable law.
§ 4. Performance Recommendations
4.1. In order to satisfactorily complete the Extended Probationary Period, you are required to take the following steps to improve your performance:

§ 5. Review and Confirmation
5.1. Your performance shall be reviewed on or before ________.
5.2. Where the Company is satisfied that your performance meets the required standards at the end of the Extended Probationary Period, your employment shall be confirmed by written notice.
5.3. Where your performance remains unsatisfactory, the Company reserves the right to either further extend the probationary period or terminate your employment in accordance with your contract of employment and applicable law.
§ 6. General
6.1. Nothing in this letter shall be construed as varying any other term of your contract of employment, save for the extension of the probationary period as expressly set out herein.
6.2. This letter and your employment shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including the Labour Act, Cap L1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
