Sir/Madam,

Under instructions from and on behalf of my client, ________, S/o / W/o / D/o ________, resident of ________ (hereinafter referred to as "my Client"), I do hereby address to you the following Legal Notice:

  1. That the marriage between you and my Client was solemnised on ________ as per the prevailing rites and customs, and the legal relationship between the parties is duly recognised in law.
  2. That the Hon'ble ________, vide its Order dated ________ passed in Case/Petition No. ________, was pleased to direct you to pay maintenance / alimony to my Client. The said direction was passed under the provisions of ________ (Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 / Section 144 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 / Section 24 & 25 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 / Section 18 of the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956 / Section 20 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, as applicable).
  3. That in terms of the said Order, you are liable and bound to pay to my Client a sum of Rs. ________ (Rupees ________), payable at the following intervals: ________.
  4. That despite your clear legal obligation under the said Order, you have wilfully and deliberately defaulted in making payment of the maintenance / alimony, and the said amount has remained due and unpaid since ________.
