RE: DEMAND TO CEASE AND DESIST HARASSMENT


Dear ________:

§ 1. Purpose of this Letter. This letter constitutes formal notice and demand that you immediately and permanently cease and desist from a continuing course of conduct that I consider to constitute harassment directed at me, my family, and/or my business. This letter documents that conduct and demands that it stop.

§ 2. The Conduct Complained Of. Beginning on or about ________ and continuing to the date of this letter, you have engaged in a pattern of unwanted and unwelcome conduct directed at me, including, but not limited to, the following:

§ 3. Effect of the Conduct. Your actions are unwanted, unwelcome, and have caused me serious distress. Your conduct interferes with my reasonable expectation to be free from harassment and intimidation. As a result of your behaviour, I have suffered, among other things:

(a) substantial harm to my business and economic interests;

(b) substantial harm to my reputation;

(c) emotional distress and mental anguish; and

(d) ________.

§ 4. Demand. I hereby demand that you, and anyone acting on your behalf or at your direction, immediately and permanently:

(a) cease and desist from all of the conduct described above and from any further harassment, intimidation, surveillance, or unwanted contact directed at me, my family, my household, or my business;

(b) refrain from contacting me by any means, whether directly or indirectly, including in person, by telephone, by mail, by electronic mail, by text message, through social media, or through any third party, except through my legal counsel;

(c) cease publishing, communicating, or distributing any defamatory, false, or disparaging statements concerning me; and

(d) confirm in writing, on or before ________, that you will comply with this demand.

§ 6. Preservation of Evidence. You are advised to preserve all documents, recordings, electronic communications, metadata, and other records relating to the matters described in this letter, as they may be relevant to future legal proceedings.

§ 8. Governing Law. The matters referred to in this letter are governed by the laws of the Province of ________ and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
