RE: NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF BUSINESS AND STAND DOWN OF EMPLOYEES
Dear Colleagues,
1. Purpose of this notice
1.1 We write to inform you that, regrettably, as a result of recent business conditions, ________ (ABN ________) (the Company) will temporarily cease operating its business with effect from ________.
1.2 This decision has been made carefully and only after considering all reasonably available alternatives. We acknowledge that this is a difficult time for everyone affected and we do not make this decision lightly.
1.3 Importantly, this notice does not constitute a termination of your employment. Your employment with the Company continues, and your accrued entitlements remain protected.
2. Reason for the stoppage of work
2.1 The Company has been required to cease operations for the following reason:

2.2 The stoppage of work has arisen from circumstances for which the Company cannot reasonably be held responsible.
3. Stand down under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)
3.2 A stand down under section 524 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) may occur where an employee cannot usefully be employed because of a stoppage of work for any cause for which the employer cannot reasonably be held responsible.
3.3 You are being stood down with effect from ________. The anticipated duration of the stand down is ________, however this is an estimate only and may be shortened or extended depending on circumstances.
3.4 During the period of stand down, and consistent with section 525 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), you will not be taken to be stood down for any period in respect of which you are taking paid or unpaid authorised leave, or are otherwise authorised to be absent from work.
4. Effect on your employment and entitlements
4.1 Your employment with the Company is preserved throughout the stand down period, notwithstanding that the Company is presently unable to usefully employ you.
4.2 During the stand down period, your continuity of service is maintained and any accrued leave entitlements continue to accrue in accordance with the National Employment Standards under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and any applicable award or enterprise agreement.
4.3 If you wish to receive income during this period, you may be entitled to access some of your accrued leave entitlements. Please contact us to discuss the options available to you, including any annual leave or long service leave entitlements.
4.4 We encourage you to obtain information about any Australian Government income support or assistance for which you may be eligible during this period.
5. Your rights
5.2 You may also seek independent advice from the Fair Work Ombudsman, your union, or a legal practitioner.
6. Return to work and communication
6.1 When the Company is able to resume normal operations, we will notify you as soon as practicable and provide details regarding your return to work.
6.2 During this period, the best way to contact the Company is by the following method:
