RE: LANDLORD’S REFERENCE IN RESPECT OF ________

§1. Introduction. I write to provide a tenancy reference in respect of ________ (“the Applicant”), formerly of ________, who has applied to take a tenancy at your rental property. This reference is given in good faith and to the best of my knowledge, information and belief, in the ordinary course of letting and without any liability whatsoever beyond an honest statement of fact.

§2. Particulars of the Tenancy. The Applicant held a tenancy of my property situate at ________ for a period of ________, commencing on ________ and ending on ________.

§3. Rent. The agreed rent was the sum of ₦________ (________) per annum. The Applicant discharged the rent promptly and punctually throughout the tenancy and was not at any material time in arrears.

§4. Conduct as Tenant. Throughout the term of the tenancy the Applicant complied fully with the covenants and conditions of the tenancy agreement. In particular, the Applicant:

(a) conducted themselves at all times in a respectful and responsible manner;

(b) paid all rent as and when due and did not at any time default in the payment of rent or any other charge;

(c) kept the premises clean, tidy and in good and tenantable repair, fair wear and tear excepted; and

(d) maintained cordial relations with neighbours, no complaint having been received in respect of the Applicant during the tenancy.

§5. Recommendation. On the strength of the foregoing, I am satisfied that the Applicant is a reliable, responsible and trustworthy tenant, and I recommend the Applicant without reservation.
