Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: FORMAL DEMAND FOR COMPENSATION ARISING FROM DELAYED FLIGHT — FLIGHT NO. ________
§1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. I, ________, holder of booking/ticket reference number ________, hereby write to lodge a formal complaint and demand for compensation in respect of the inordinate delay of the above-referenced flight operated by your airline.
§2. PARTICULARS OF THE FLIGHT
2.1. The flight in question was a domestic flight bearing flight number ________.
2.2. The flight was scheduled to depart from ________ on ________ at ________ and to arrive at ________ on ________ at ________.
2.3. Contrary to the said schedule, the flight did not arrive until ________ at ________, thereby occasioning a delay of approximately ________.
2.4. During the period of the delay, your airline failed and/or neglected to provide adequate care, refreshments, communication and/or alternative arrangements as required under the NCAA Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.
§3. BREACH AND PASSENGER RIGHTS
3.1. By reason of the foregoing, your airline is in breach of its statutory and contractual obligations to me as a fare-paying passenger, and I have thereby suffered inconvenience, loss and damage.
3.2. Under the applicable regulatory framework, a passenger affected by a delay of the nature described above is entitled to appropriate care, compensation and/or a refund as the circumstances may warrant.
§4. DEMAND FOR COMPENSATION
4.1. I hereby demand payment of compensation in the sum of ₦________ (________), being fair and reasonable compensation for the loss, expense and inconvenience occasioned by the said delay.
